Dance Instructors

Jen Matthews has been dancing and performing throughout Chicago since the age of 3. She began taking classes at Norridge Park where she competed and performed as a member of the Movers&Shakers Dance Team. She has danced at several Chicagoland studios and continued competing and performing in all styles of dance. She is a former dance team member of Ridgewood High School where she was captain and had the opportunity to dance in a New Year’s Day parade in Italy. She is also a former member and captain of The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) dance team. Here she performed at UIC’s athletic games along with competing at NDA and UDA College Nationals. She has danced in multiple flashmobs throughout the city, has taught dance clinics, and has choreographed at the high school and collegiate level for dance teams. Jen is currently finishing her B.A. in English at UIC, as well as volunteering as an assistant coach for Ridgewood High School’s dance team. Jen is excited to be teaching and sharing for passion for dance!

Meet the Norridge Park District Dance Instructor Team

Proper Attire for Dance Classes:

Please make sure students are dressed and ready in proper dance attire and shoes, and hair is pulled back and off of their face. Proper dance attire should include articles of clothing like: tights, leotards, bike shorts, and stretch-pants. Please no jeans, jean shorts, or dresses.

Bathroom Usage During Class:

Students should try and use the bathroom prior to coming to dance class. Students are allowed to use the bathroom during class, but please be aware that they will be going upstairs to the bathroom without their dance instructor's assistance.

Parents Guidelines During Dance Class:

While students are in class all parents are to wait in the lobby outside of the classroom until their class is through. This is to alleviate any distractions during class.

Please note that there is absolutely NO gum, food, drink, toys, etc. allowed in class!
